About capacity, weight, and size descriptions

Product size, weight, and capacity may slightly vary due to material characteristics and other conditions during production. We appreciate your understanding in advance.

1. Capacity

Notation method

• Applicable products: Luggage (suitcases, trolley bags) and some other products (e.g., backpacks) only.
• Measurement unit: L (liter).
• The actual capacity inside the luggage is shown.
• Fractions less than 1 liter are rounded down.

Expandable luggage

For expandable products whose depth can be adjusted by opening and closing the zipper, capacities are indicated as normal/expanded or normal (expanded), separated by a slash.

Example: 13/17 L or 13 (17) L. If only one figure is shown, it is the capacity when expanded.

Measurement method

• Pellets (resin particles ~4 mm) are used to minimize gaps; capacity is counted by the number of 1‑liter cubes required to fill the case.
• Only the space for normal use is measured.
  • Spaces inside pockets are included.
  • Spaces behind maintenance zippers (for repair) are not included.

The amount of space the luggage occupies externally is defined as occupied volume and is calculated as the product of the external dimensions.

2. Weight

Luggage (suitcases, trolley bags)

• Unit: kg; indicated to the 100 g unit (10 g is rounded down).
• Weights may vary by color/components and manufacturing conditions (e.g., molding temperature).
• Does not include removable accessories (instruction manuals, hangers, luggage tags, padlocks).

General bags

• Unit: g; amounts less than 10 g are rounded down.
• Weights vary with leather/core thickness and component differences by color; sewing conditions also affect thickness.
• Does not include removable accessories (instruction manuals, shoulder straps, charms, padlocks). Indicated for certain products only.

Measurement method

• Measurements are taken using finished products; accessories/tags/manuals are excluded.
• Among multiple samples of the same item number, the maximum measured value is selected and rounded down per the rules.

3. Size

Unit: cm (centimeters)

• Each of the three dimensions is measured on the finished product; slight individual differences may occur.

Luggage (suitcases, trolley bags)

• External dimensions are shown as H × W × D (outermost points incl. casters/handles/protrusions).
• If not labeled otherwise, external dimensions are indicated.
• For horizontal luggage, order is W × H × D.
• Expandable products show depth as normal/expanded or normal (expanded).
  Example: W40 × H28 × D13/18 cm or W40 × H28 × D13 (18) cm. If only one figure is shown, it is the depth when expanded.
• Fractions less than 1 cm are rounded up.

General bags

• Body size shown as W × H × D; external pockets are not included.
• Expandable notation follows the same rule as above.
• Products with depth < 1 cm (e.g., some backpacks) use W × H only.
• Fractions less than 1 cm are rounded down.

Wallets & leather goods

• Shown as W × H × D; if depth < 1 cm, show W × H only.

Measurement method

• Suitcases/trolley bags measured with a stadiometer or equivalent.
• Place product on a horizontal floor against a vertical wall; measure to the protruding edges using a right‑angle object.
• General bags measured at the longest part of the body (handles/straps/external pockets excluded).
• Rounding: < 1 cm rounded up for suitcases/trolleys; < 1 cm rounded down for general bags.
• For online stores with their own indication rules (e.g., Ace Online Store, Rakuten), notation/order may be adjusted based on measurements above.

4. Storage capacity

Compatible inch sizes for PC storage pocket

Sizes are indicated per PC manufacturers. Ace reference storage dimensions are:

A 15.6‑inch PC may fit in a pocket labeled for 15‑inch. Use the above as a guide, and check your device’s actual measurements or try fitting it in the pocket.

Compatible paper sizes that can fit in the bag

Paper size: JIS standard. File size: general flat file size (reference storage dimensions).

File dimensions are Ace's own standards (reference storage dimensions) and may not fit all files. Even if a bag meets a paper size standard by body size, it may be indicated as one size smaller (e.g., with round corners).
